You can’t see it, but you can feel it. We can sense a person’s energy, sometimes from across a room. Negative energy can bring us down and make the people around us feel uncomfortable. Positive energy can bring us up, making us feel inspired and motivated. Where does our personal “energy” come from, and how is it so easily transmitted through space and time?
For centuries, healing practitioners have understood that there are actual energy fields that surround our bodies and play a role in our general well-being. The chakras are the seven major energy centers in the body. Each chakra is associated with an area around our bodies, and with a particular physical, emotional or mental function.
Every crystal singing bowl is tuned to a note that is associated with one of the chakras. When the bowls are played, we begin to tune and balance our own chakras. This can be empowering and revealing, and can help to promote our health and emotional well-being.
The root chakra is located at the base of the spine. It is associated with basic survival needs and feeling grounded, as well as our sense of belonging. Red is the color of the root chakra, and the musical note is C.
The sacral chakra is located about an inch below the navel. It is associated with creativity, sexuality and emotion. Orange is the color associated with the sacral chakra, and the musical note is D.
The solar plexus chakra is located in our upper abdomen and stomach. It is associated with our self-esteem and self-worth. Yellow is the color of the solar plexus chakra, and the musical note is E.
The heart chakra is located in the chest. It is associated with love and compassion. Green is the color of the heart chakra, and the musical note is F.
The throat chakra is located near the thyroid gland. It is associated with self-expression and truth. Blue is the color of the throat chakra, and the musical note is G.
The third eye chakra is located in the center of the forehead. It is associated with information, intuition and wisdom. Darker blue or indigo is the color for the third eye chakra, and the musical note is A.
The crown chakra is located at the top of the head. It is associated with higher consciousness and spiritual enlightenment. Violet is the shade of the crown chakra, and the musical note is B.
