How many times have you said to yourself, “Once I get over there, this will go away and I will be happy”? Is the grass really greener on the other side, or is it only green enough when we shift our thoughts on what we have already?
Whether you’ve been to a yoga class, a law of attraction workshop or a meditation, you are encouraged to come from a place of gratitude and appreciation.
When we are in a state of appreciation, our vibrational frequency expands. This may seem like a daunting task when life is coming at us from all angles. It is the norm in our society to be in a constant state of stress. We are always plugged in and turned on.
1. Find a touchstone. It could be an object, a positive memory or one physical attribute that you love about yourself. For me, it is a stone I picked up from the Grand Canyon that helps me recall a special experience. It happened on my first road trip out west. I felt a sense of peace, a spiritual connection to something far greater than my physical presence on earth. If you find this to be a challenge, remember always to be gentle with yourself. We tend to be the hardest critic of ourselves.
2. Write down 50 things you appreciate in your life. There’s one feeling when you list them all in your mind and another when you physically write them down. If you don’t know where to start, begin with the paint on the walls. When I look back to the first time I did this, I had more than 60 on my list. When there is no expectation, the process flows.
3. Set “I am” affirmations. These positive, uplifting affirmations can help us to break old beliefs and rewire the neural networks in our brains. Start off with one affirmation. You can say to yourself, “I am love” and feel the vibration behind the words. How does saying it make you feel? Do you believe it? Acknowledging that you are not 100 percent there is completely okay. Take the time to sit with what is disconnecting your alignment with the alignment of the affirmation. Even if you have only five minutes in your day, you may find that an “a-ha” moment happens out of the chaos.
Remember, our thoughts co-create our reality. Your awareness of the vibration your words carry is what creates the ripple effect around you.
